Kathmandu : Yogesh Gauchan Thakali of Nepali Congress has been elected to the post of Member of House of Representatives (HoR) from Mustang district. The 29-year-old Thakali defeated the outgoing MP and CPN (UML) central member Prem Prasad Tulachan with a margin of 914 votes.


Chief Election Officer Ishwor Parajuli informed that Thakali secured 3,992 votes while UML’s Tulachan polled 3,078 votes.
Similarly, Sudesh Gurung of Rashtriya Swotantra Party got 87 and Prabin Kumar Sherchan of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) garnered 13 votes.

Out of 10 thousand 957 voters in Mustang, 7,230 or 65.98 percent of the voters had cast their votes in the election to the Member of House of Representatives and Province Assembly held on Sunday.
Thakali is perhaps the youngest HoR member elected so far. Thakali is a resident of Lete Kalopani, Thasang rural municipality of the district.
